Now I’ll say it before and I’ll say it again. There’s nothing I love more than a purple-toned lip. And this one right here is just £1. You heard me correctly. One whole pound.
MUA is an extremely affordable brand and when browsing the different products from the range this colour just called out to me. It’s called Lilac Belle (£1, Superdrug) and I couldn’t resist picking it up, especially as it was only £1. I always find myself drawn to cooler toned lip products as I think they suit me more than others and this was no exception. Spoiler alert: I love it!
The packaging for the product is nothing amazing, it’s a simple white tube with a round pot of lip colour on the end making it recognisable when sat in your collection, something which is always useful. Well it is if you own a hefty amount of lip products, I know I do.
Next thing to note is the smell. It’s the exact smell of a crayon. A Crayola crayon. It’s not a bad smell, it reminds me of being a kid, but nevertheless it smells like a crayon. So let’s get onto the actual application of the product..
The lipstick itself is matte in formula and considering the cheapness it applies smoothly and evenly onto the lips. The colour isn’t completely opaque upon the first layer of application but you can build it up to create the intensity you desire. If you do add more layers the lipstick doesn’t become chunky or uncomfortable in the slighest which is fantastic.
It’s actually matte! There are quite a few cheaper lip products out there which say they are matte but they still have a slight sheen to them. Lilac Belle is completely matte and an added bonus is that it doesn’t become drier with long wear. Which brings me onto the next point, it lasts so well! It lasts around 4-5 hours before needing to be topped up and as it’s such a smooth consistency I find that it wears off quite evenly on the lips.
I absolutely adore this lipstick and find myself reaching for it on the regular. It’s a gorgeous wearable muted purple lipstick which is great for day wear and looks great in the summer as a pop of colour. As it is a lilac muted tone it suits both fair and tan skin tones, it’s extremely versatile.
Due to the success I’ve had with this lipstick I would like to try other colours from the matte range of MUA. Is there any that you would recommend?
